How do you find the right counsellor?
I offer person centred counselling and trauma support – with added insight gained from the front line as a Child Protection Specialist for over 16 years.
What does this mean?
Person centred counselling focuses on you. I don’t have a set plan to get you from A to Z decided by a label. Whatever you feel is valid, and we work together to understand the cause, rather than treat the symptoms. I use a toolbox of counselling methods that suit you, to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable as we make progress.
I have an extensive background dealing with trauma which has given me a real understanding of the impact that families can experience following a serious incident – on the day it happens, and in the weeks and months that follow. I believe this insight helps me to truly understand and empathise with my clients, and provide a human, non-academic face to counselling. It was this that first motivated me to launch a private counselling clinic, to be able to support both children and adults in need through to a better place.
I work with children, parents, adults and families. If you require couples or group therapy, please contact me to discuss your needs. My home based clinic is calm and relaxing – a friendly, familiar environment to help you feel safe and secure.
Depression, anxiety, stress, abuse, OCD, trauma, parenting, career, self-esteem, confidence and relationship issues – whatever is causing you concerns, I’ll help you understand the causes and forge a pathway through.
Training, qualifications & experience
I help those who are looking to progress their careers, offering work place supervision, coaching and emotional support. Most recently this has been to employees within social care, education, policing and the NHS.
In-between private client work I volunteer for a charity which supports adult and child survivors of sexual abuse.
I previously worked as a school counsellor for a secondary school where I introduced a new counselling service for young people aged 11 - 18 years and personal development groups for teachers.
