About me

The human experience can sometimes be full of stress or conflicted emotions. At times we may have a sense of dissatisfaction, or a lack of fulfilment. I believe that through talking therapies, we can begin to understand the processes and patterns at work in our lives. It is through this awareness that we give ourselves options; the power to change, capacity to grow, and the opportunity to accept ourselves with more compassion

I am a qualified and registered practitioner, working online and face-to-face, and I can provide counselling and psychotherapy to individuals on either a long term or short term basis.

I am an integrative psychotherapist. This means that I draw on a variety of different approaches and schools of thought to offer individual psychological support.

I believe in working collaboratively with my client, supporting you to decide what you feel you need, tailoring an individual therapeutic experience, unique for each person.

I work humanistically, valuing a person's lived experience, and their innate ability to move towards a sense of well-being.

The therapeutic relationship is an important part of my practice, I believe that psychological healing starts here, with someone feeling seen, heard and appreciated.

Providing a safe space and a welcoming, inclusive service is a cornerstone of my practice.

I have special interests in mindfulness and how this assists with compassion and acceptance, and also hypnotherapeutic techniques for relaxation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Getting started

I appreciate that deciding to access counselling or psychotherapy can be a daunting step.  Do get in touch with either a text, email or voicemail and I'll reply within 48 hours.

If you'd like to book an initial session I'll send you a confirmation email with all the details.  When we meet the session might be a bit different to others that follow - we'll have a discussion about what brings you to therapy, and what you might like to achieve through the process.  I might talk about how we could work together to get you to where you want to be.

It's ok to take some time afterwards to have a think about whether we are a good fit.  It's important to me that clients feel comfortable and ready to begin their therapeutic experience.
