About me
Counselling can be about facing the anxieties of life and disappointments, but it can also be a pathway to clarity, hope and positive change. Whatever brings you to therapy we will look at it together in a safe and compassionate way, going at your pace. I will always work according to your needs aware that this can change from moment to moment, maybe looking at what is happening for you now or it might be making sense of your past.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step this is why the trusted relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of my counselling work. I am not here to tell you what to do, I respect you are the expert in your life, but I will be there to help you navigate challenges free of any judgement.
No concern is too big or too small; if something is weighing heavily on you or causing you to feel stuck, in therapy you can explore it with someone you trust. I create a confidential and open-minded environment where you can just be yourself and feel safe and empowered to explore your experiences and work towards how you want your life to be.
I am an integrative therapist which allows me to draw on various counselling models and tailor my approach to your specific needs. I work in a trauma informed, holistic way this means considering the emotional, psychological and physical impacts of your concerns.
I have had extra training and experience of working with clients who have experienced childhood trauma or sexual abuse.
I also have an interest in breathwork and how it can help us work through difficult feelings and overwhelm. I can incorporate breathwork if this feels right to my clients for example if they are experiencing panic attacks, anxiety or difficulty with sleep.
My background is in nursing, and I work with healthcare professionals supporting their mental health and wellbeing. As well as working in private practice I also work with a local mental health charity counselling clients from different backgrounds facing a range of concerns.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified integrative counsellor which means I can draw on a range of approaches to tailor your counselling experience to your unique needs.
I am fully committed to my own personal and professional development as I believe this is key to being a competent practitioner. I am currently training with the charity Choices to support those who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
I am currently training as a breathwork practitioner to support those clients who find breathwork helpful when they feel anxious or stuck.
I have a nursing background of more than 30 years and have been dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals since December 2020.
I work with a local mental health charity, providing counselling to adult clients from diverse backgrounds, ages and genders, each facing a variety of concerns.
I am a registered member of the BACP
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
