About me

My name is Emma and I am a qualified and experienced person centered counsellor.

I have experience with working with different aspects of needs, from domestic violence, anxiety, depression, living with ADHD, relationship issues, self confidence and low self-esteem, grief and many more.

I offer a safe and non judgemental space to help you explore how you are feeling, reflect on situations and experiences and to allow you to finally be heard. We're human beings, we are sociable and intelligent creatures but unfortunately, whether it is through past experiences, current situations or our own negative thoughts we can all struggle with our mental health. It is so important to allow yourself to explore and process our thoughts and feelings to move past barriers and grow and develop.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at Wigan and Leigh College first to reach the desired grades to access my University choice.

I studied and trained at The University of Salford, whilst studying I completed two years of placement at different locations so I could experience different individuals and their reasons for counselling.

The longest placement I worked at was at a local domestic violence center. I worked here weekly, managing my own caseload and offering the safe space for individuals to express and explore their experiences and how this had and was making them feel.

I also worked at a carer's center as a counsellor. I would work with individuals who were caring for family members either physically or mentally and help them talk about the struggles they were facing and by doing this they would often find their own resolution to concerns or problems which in turn helped their mental health.

Since 2019 I have worked with my own private clients. I was approached and my details shared to potential clients who would have sessions. I did this until I went off for maternity leave in May 2023 and some clients waited for my return to begin sessions again if needed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I am happy to discuss the fees. I completely understand the cost of living crisis and that things are tight for people right now. Therefore, I have a lower rate for students of £30 per session and I am happy to see clients fortnightly to decrease the cost of counselling if needed.
