About me
Are things becoming overwhelming? Need Clarity? Trying to calm a chaotic mind or just need a place to give your head some space…
Reaching out for support is not always easy and scrolling through an endless list of counsellors to find the right person to share your troubles with can feel overwhelming,so I appreciate you taking time to read about me.
Hi I’m Emma, a qualified and experienced Integrative counsellor with a focus on person centred and humanistic ways of working. I currently work as a school counsellor and also with University students through GP referrals, alongside my private practice where I offer online, telephone, walk and talk and in person counselling sessions.
I work with many different issues, most commonly anxiety, depression, self harm and low self-esteem. I have experience as a grief counsellor from working within the NHS bereavement support service and have worked in the criminal justice sector with individuals with complex mental health issues, drug misuse and offending behaviour. I have also worked within a local authority offering counselling to employees struggling with work related and non-work related issues.
I believe in the uniqueness of each individual and will treat you with respect and dignity, allowing you the space to sit with and talk through anything you feel is troubling you. I am happy to explore your experiences with you, always at your pace.
How we respond to situations and life is unique and individual, so in my work with my clients, I work integratively which allows me to draw upon differing therapy modalities to use tools and techniques to work with your situation. My professional knowledge and training and my own life experiences enable me to sit with you even in the most chaotic and darkest of times, without judgement but with curiosity to explore and process life events, thoughts, feelings and emotions.
If you decide to work with me, we will take time to review our progress through the sessions, so that we can build an authentic way of working.
I offer both short-term (6 sessions) and long-term work.
The following link explains more about my style of counselling from the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists of which I am a registered member and currently working towards accreditation having accrued over 900 clinical counselling hrs.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
