About me

Hi, my name is Emma, and I am an integrative counsellor who blends various therapeutic modalities to create a personalised approach for each client.

I understand how difficult it might be to find the words to express your feelings and to navigate through your own experiences, trying to make sense of them. It can be a daunting journey to explore your thoughts and emotions, especially when facing uncertainty or confusion. As a trauma-informed counsellor, I am here to provide a safe and supportive space where you can freely explore and understand your experiences at your own pace. Together, we can work through these challenges with empathy and without judgment, fostering clarity, insight, and personal growth.

Drawing from my own life challenges and experiences living in diverse cultures abroad, I empathise deeply with the difficulties life can present. My passion lies in supporting others and ensuring they feel heard, seen and validated.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
  • Undergraduate Degree in Counselling
  • Neuroscience of Trauma and PTSD (The National Counselling Society)
  • Trauma, the brain and recovery (The National Counselling Society)
  • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) in Suicide
  • Hearing Voices (CPD)
  • Transgender Awareness (CPD)
  • BED & Compulsive over eating (CPD)
  • Bulimia (CPD)
  • Medical monitoring & physical health in Eating Disorders (CPD)

I have worked as a volunteer counsellor with a local community centre, where I supported individuals through their journey from homelessness to temporary and permanent accommodation. This role allowed me to provide crucial emotional and therapeutic support during a pivotal phase of their lives where I gained experience working with clients with diverse mental health issues including addiction, depression, anxiety and panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, bi-polar and schizophrenia.

I have also worked as a counsellor supporting individuals with eating disorders and the complexities around body image.

I am a LGBTQIA+ informed therapist with a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges faced by individuals who are transitioning or exploring their gender identity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
