About me

Hi, I'm Emily, thank you for taking a moment to pause and view my profile.  I hope you will find something you may connect with.

As a relational therapist, I am here to invite you to join me in the building of a trusting therapeutic relationship.  Through our work together we can consider and reflect on the challenges or changes that brought you here today. During our sessions we will move at your pace, taking our time.  Your voice will be heard, respected and valued. I work in an empathic manner and without judgement offering genuine, felt responses. I also work in a way that notices what your body may be communicating, sometimes this can be more than words can say.

As well as being trained in person-centred counselling and transactional analysis, I am also an Ecological Practitioner working in the outdoors, with and through the natural world.  The outdoors can help us to regulate and make offerings that help us deepen our understanding of self.

While sessions offered are outdoors, I feel at ease both inside and out and thus offer both to you. We can have the initial session(s) in a therapy room before continuing outside, remaining indoors or we can work outdoors from the onset, I will be guided by you and where feels right for you.  I am also available to work online and on the phone, this too can be conducted inside or outside.  I currently offer sessions in and around Kendal and outdoors in Arnside

In our first meeting we will consider what may have led you to counselling and think about what you might want the outcome of our sessions to be. We will spend time going through the therapeutic contract, thinking about confidentiality and privacy as well as how often you would like our sessions.

I welcome any questions before you start counselling, at the onset and through our time together.  You may be curious about how therapy works outside, if so please get in touch and we can spend some time exploring your questions and possible concerns. I am really open to hearing your thoughts.

Once again, thank you for your time,

Emily

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
