About me

Hi, I'm Emily, a qualified Psychotherapist, offering you a calm, down to earth space to share what is going on for you, with no judgement whatsoever.

Whether you want to feel more like yourself again, work through a particular challenge you are experiencing or you aren’t sure where to start but know that something needs to change; I am here to help you.

Together we will work on creating an awareness and understanding of your current challenges and experiences, building tools that you can use to help yourself in day-to-day life.

My approach: As an Integrative Psychotherapist, the approaches I draw upon include person-centered, psychodynamic (how the past impacts the present) and emotion-focused. I will tailor my approach to meet your needs, working at a pace that suits you. There is never just one way to do things in counselling, whether we talk things through or use exercises along the way, we will work together to find the best way forwards for you.

What I can help you with: Common areas of counselling I help people work through include: Anxiety, depression, feeling hopeless, panic attacks, confidence issues, feelings of not coping, relationship difficulties, grief and bereavement, work-related stress, financial worries, traumatic experiences, feeling disconnected & more.

Are you involved in sport? I specialise in supporting sportspeople, support staff and their families. Through working in elite sport, I understand the unique challenges being involved in sport can bring and am here to support you through these. Counselling can also help you to embrace your mental fitness, alongside your physical fitness and help you to become the best sportsperson and person you can be. Our work may also include: coping with pressure, feeling like a failure, lack of concentration, injury and deselection issues, a loss of identity and uncertainty about the future.

How to get started with me:

1. Drop me a line via either email, my website, calling or texting me

2. We will arrange a time to speak on the phone for an initial chat to see if we are a good fit for each other (no fee & no obligation to continue!)

3. If you want to proceed, I will send you an agreement and we will arrange our first session together (this is a reduced rate session)

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
