About me

Feeling sad or depressed? Experiencing anxiety or stress? Struggling as a result of a traumatic experience?

I am a professional counselling psychologist offering an empathic, professional and confidential therapeutic service to assist with these and many other emotional conditions.

I believe it is essential to develop a good relationship where you, as the client, can feel the therapist is really listening to your experience. I combine traditional counselling approaches with recognised therapeutic techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) to help you move through difficult life experiences to a more fulfilled future.

I work with clients for short or longer term according to their needs. I can offer flexibility in terms of appointment times, which can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly or as required to suit the client.

I am based in the peaceful village of Yetminster, which is in easy reach of Yeovil, Sherborne and Dorchester.

Please feel free to contact me for a confidential, no obligation telephone discussion about your specific situation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started my counselling training in the early 1990s, then I have undertaken further training including a BSc (Hons) Psychology and MSc health psychology. I finally undertook an MSc and doctoral level training in counselling psychology to specialise as a British Psychological Society Counselling Psychologist. In addition, I am HCPC registered, a chartered scientist and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

I have experience in a range of settings including the NHS, the charity sector, private education and healthcare. Within these, I have worked with adolescents and adults with a range of conditions. In addition, I have provided training and supervision to other professionals. I have been working in private practice since 2007.

I am committed to maintaining high standards; I regularly attend professional development events and ensure I keep up-to-date with effective treatments.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
