About me

About Me

Hello, my name is Elva and I am your local Hypnotherapist and Counsellor. I am fortunate that I can integrate and balance my life’s experience as a practitioner who has professional qualifications with the right level of technical expertise.

I also have a strong empathic intuition and passion to help people improve and overcome their mental health issues.

I am so grateful that I am a therapist. I have been through so many life changing events, and each transition taught me that I can make and sustain positive change.

I believe each one of us can change the way we feel, think and behave. When we meet the right therapist, who walks alongside us then we begin a journey of self-discovery and personal development.

I utilise a range of evidence based psychological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Solution Focused therapy as well as Person Centered counselling and other Integrative approaches.

All my sessions are tailored for the individual and I create a safe and supportive environment so that my clients can explore their current concerns and their confidentiality is assured. Within all my sessions I share my positivity and provide hope and structure on how to move forward and explore how to find solutions.

I provide a friendly and professional approach designed to inspire, improve and alter thinking patterns, behaviour styles and feelings, so that you can make sustainable changes for them to become your new and chosen reality.

How I can help

I advise, guide and support individuals and management teams how to find all round positive and achievable solutions for all those involved for a variety of issues including:

    · Reducing stress, generalised anxiety, insomnia and depression in the work place, including sadness, grief, loneliness

    · Learning how to manage and overcome worry, fear and anger

    · Working with teenagers and supporting their parents to improve and overcome issues such as low mood, fear, exam anxiety and stress, low self-esteem, diminishing communication, general relationship difficulties and a lack of engagement, direction and motivation

    · Understanding thoughts, behaviours and feelings and how these affect ourselves and others

    · Support with personal, relationship and work issues

    · Increasing self-esteem and confidence

    · Reducing conflict in the work place

    · Ways to encourage positive mental health

I have an ENHANCED DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and I am eligible to work with teenagers and vulnerable adults (this was previously known as a CRB).

There is a structure to my sessions, and a session planner will be provided - this enables you to move forward and to understand what it is you wish to achieve.

Delivery choices

Every person is an individual and I adapt my sessions and the approaches to their requirements. Therefore, I use a variety of communication methods and strategies to achieve the best results, such as walking and talking including outdoor sessions, face to face, email, telephone and online (e.g. Zoom). These are delivered on a one to one basis. In addition to my clinics in Midhurst, Sussex and Haslemere, Surrey I also offer sessions in a beautiful, healing environment at 1 Gable Cottage, Alton Street, Ross on Wye, Herefordshire HR9 5AE.

The initial consultation will involve discussion of your goals and how these may be achieved.  An explanation of how the brain works, its effect on behaviour and decision-making will be given. Your sessions will be supplemented with a complimentary CD, this will support your therapy between your sessions.

Your sessions will comprise of a combination of Talking Therapy techniques. As a specialist in Solution-Focused Psychotherapy the emphasis will be on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

Optional extras

I can also provide workshops and talks on any of the above topics as well as helping managers to identify and confidently report when conflict and mental health issues arise.
