About me

Welcome to my profile. I became a counsellor because I have a genuine interest in people.  If you haven't experienced counselling before, it takes courage to contact a counsellor and you have now made that first step to seek help and support. My aim is to understand your experiences and attune to how that feels for you so that I may support you with warmth and compassion.

I am able to work short term or long term with clients according to their preference. I see individuals over 17 years old in my private practice. I have also worked for NHS IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service providers in Kent for 8 years.

I trained in the Integrative Relationship model of Counselling and I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is at the centre of successful therapy. I am able to use different theoretical approaches such as EMDR, Hypnotherapy, TFT and CBT techniques to offer you a flexible, creative treatment plan to suit your needs.
EMDR is a NICE recommended treatment for trauma which is a particular area of interest to me. I have completed EMDR Practitioners’ training Part 1, 2 & 3 with Richman EMDR Training. EMDR treatment is not a talking therapy but works through a protocol using alternating left-right stimulation of the brain with eye movements, sounds or taps to reduce the intensity of the distressing memories.
Hypnotherapy can be integrated into the counselling process allowing the brain to fully relax, bypassing fears and disbeliefs, and easing participation in agreed therapeutic interventions.
I will listen to your preferences and respect the choices you make in your therapy: working together for the best outcome of your situation. My aim is to offer you a warm accepting environment in which you can recover from your distress.
My area of interest is working with trauma, anxiety, stress, relationship issues (such as affairs and betrayals, relationships at work or family issues) and low self esteem. I am also experienced in helping people with many other problems including generalised anxiety disorder, depression, separation and divorce, feeling sad, illness, bereavement and loss.

I have completed training as a counselling supervisor and would welcome enquiries from experienced counsellors looking for affordable supervision.

I am based close to Canterbury Town Centre with good public transport links and car parking 2 minutes walk away.

First Meeting
An initial consultation, for which I do charge, does not commit you to further sessions. Please contact me and I will offer you an initial meeting in which we can explore your needs and you can decide whether I am the right person to help you.

Contacting me - you may get an answer phone but please do leave a message and contact number and I will call you back as soon as I can. I respect your confidentiality so I will not return your call unless you leave your number asking me to. I will assume that emails are to be replied to unless otherwise stated.
