About me

About Me: I am a BACP accredited counsellor. I trained and identify as a pluralistic counsellor. Pluralistic counsellors believe that there is no "right" or "best" therapeutic approach. There is no one cause or way to understand distress and as such there is no one right method of treatment.

Each individual brings their own unique understanding of their problems, experiences and ideas of what is useful. You are the expert on yourself. I as the therapist have the role of helping you create greater awareness of yourself and your problem to allow for the possibility of change.

I see counselling as a dynamic and collaborative process. I tailor my approach to your needs through conversations, shared decision making and reflecting together on ways to meet your goals.

What to expect when you make contact: Either contacting via email or telephone you can have a brief opportunity to tell me what you would like support with and ask me any questions.

Following at the first session we can explore in detail what has brought you to counselling, how you are currently feeling and what you would like to get out of counselling. Here we can develop a plan on how we may work together.  At the end of the session we can discuss if you would like to continue with sessions.

I use a range of therapeutic methods including:

  • CBT
  • humanistic
  • solution-focused
  • person-centred.

Availability:  I work weekends but do have some flexibility for evening work as well.  I am always open to negotiate times that suit you.  Please ask if you any particular requests.

Training, qualifications & experience

After qualifying as a counsellor in 2012 I have since been working in the therapeutic field. As a counsellor and therapist I have worked in numerous settings including charities, the NHS and higher education.

I have worked with a range of issues including but not limited to: stress, trauma and abuse, anxiety, panic, depression, OCD, health anxiety, social anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity crisis, bereavement, addiction, dissatisfaction with life or feeling stuck, decision making, and long term conditions and illness.

I have an interest in working with those with ADHD, who struggle to manage their ADHD symptoms. I have undergone specific training and research in ADHD and therapeutic methods to engender positive change for those with ADHD. I am always keen to work with individuals who wish to explore ways of managing their ADHD symptoms and find acceptance of their self.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
