About me
Making that decision that you may need some support and looking for the right counsellor for you can feel overwhelming but, ensuring you have an idea of who I am may help you feel more comfortable and hopeful in beginning this journey.
I am a qualified counsellor who works from a Person-Centred approach. This means that I recognise that individuals will have experiences and process them in a way that is unique to them. My role is to help you find a way forward through assisting you in exploring your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and challenging you, with the aim to support you in moving towards the outcome you feel is best for you. Whether that is progressing in a particular direction or simply helping you to hold the space you are in.
I will facilitate a safe and empathetic environment, giving you a private place in which you can explore whatever may be troubling you without fear of judgment. I am a warm and compassionate person and aim to make each person I meet feel seen, heard and valued both professionally and in my personal life.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Level 3 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.
- Level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling.
Alongside my counselling qualification I also have considerable experience of working with survivors of sexual violence and individuals struggling with their mental health. I have developed a thorough understanding of the impact of mental health and the dynamics of abuse and can provide support from a trauma-informed perspective to those that have experienced these.
Relevant training:
- Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) accreditation. This training alongside prior work experience has given me a unique and detailed insight into criminal justice processes and would assist in supporting survivors of sexual violence who are thinking about or have historically reported.
- Mental Health First Aid training.
