About me

Hello, my name is Ella, welcome to my page.

I am a qualified and experienced Psychotherapist and Counsellor, who has a great passion for working alongside people, to help facilitate their own potential in all areas and aspects of their lives.

I have over twenty years experience fostering relationships, in often creative ways, with people who have learning disabilities, emotional distress, adverse childhood experiences, or experiences of trauma.

I have worked with people in social care, education, mental health, a rape crisis and sexual abuse centre, mental health wellbeing centre and private practise. I believe a healthy, respectful relationship is key to feeling connected to others, ourselves and the world around us, leading to a happier, healthier and more satisfying life.

It is my experience, that sometimes it does not feel enough to talk to partners, family, friends or colleagues - to do so can perhaps feel like a burden, conflict or feeling further misunderstood.

What I offer

Therapy (counselling/psychotherapy) can offer an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings free from being judged or a reprisal, a space to explore what is troubling us, why we behave in particular ways or what direction we would like our lives to take.

What I offer is a therapeutic relationship, where I strive to fully understand you and in doing so, help you to better understand yourself. Such a relationship can offer you insight and clarity or a fresh perspective that can bring you autonomy over your life and the choices you make.

I offer a deep respect for your life experience and an acceptance of who you are. I do not offer you advice, or tell you what I think you should do, for to do so is not empowering you or mostly, in your best interest.

I trust that you have the ability to grow in a direction which is most useful to you. You may have lost your way, or life may seem to have become too complicated however, working with you, I can help facilitate your potential to grow, or to change in a positive way that can help improve your life, relationships and outlook. I can help you feel better understood.

About the service

I am available to work from my home and a room in The Orchard at Basingstoke Voluntary Action with adults, couples, groups, children 13+ and young people 18+ up to 21 years.

I offer 50 minute sessions of face to face therapy on a weekly basis, usually at the same time and place, that is agreed together, either short-term (6-12 weeks) or long-term 12 weeks plus, depending on your need and wishes which we can discuss in our initial session.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
