About me
Hi, I'm Liz. I'm an experienced counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Therapy
There are times where finding a way through difficult emotions and events feels incredibly hard ,you may feel overwhelmed by what you feel and unsure of what you would like to be different
I believe that a trusting and honest working relationship between myself and my clients is integral to the counselling I provide. I offer an empathetic and non judgemental space and will support you in exploring, understanding and managing the emotions that are effecting you in a way you would like to change.
I have in depth experience of working with people effected by trauma, anxiety ,depression, stress, relationship issues, abuse, suicidal feelings, and Perinatal mental health pre and post-pregnancy.
Alongside my private practice I have over 10 yrs experience of working for a mental health service within the charity sector
The type of counselling that I offer
I qualified as a person centred counsellor and following further training use an integrated humanistic approach .This means I would support you in choosing the focus, pace and goals of your counselling with me. You might find that these change throughout the course of your counselling. My aim would be to work alongside you, for us to explore and understand whatever arose for you. I also incorporate solution focused techniques and motivational interviewing when we feel these will support you in moving forward towards your goals.
In working in this way with me clients are able to explore and work through emotions, reducing the impact they have on their lives, within this gaining a feeling of empowerment. clients also develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with others.
The first session

I offer an initial free 20 min on line session or phone call where we can talk about what you need from counselling and you can maybe decide if the right person to work with you is me !!
Following this sessions would be for 1hr and cost £50 for each session payable by cash or bank transfer .We would have regular review sessions
I look forward to meeting you

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
