About me
Hi ,I offer counselling in person in Saltaire and UK wide online via zoom to individuals aged 18yrs +. I know that life can be busy and can offer you a combination of both if this works better for you .
The areas I specialise in include anxiety.identity issues ,loss .pre and post natal issues, depression and low self esteem
In working with you my aim would to be to build a trusting working relationship with you underpinned by integrity and respect where you would feel totally able to be you .
The type of counselling that I offer
I qualified as a person centred counsellor in 2006 and following further training I use an integrated humanistic approach . These are non directive ways of counselling that come from the belief that you are the expert in your life and have answers you need..
The focus, pace and goals of your sessions are chosen by you .
I will guide and support you in exploring and gaining a deeper understanding of your emotions thoughts and perceptions. Working in this way allows you to gain clarity ,change negative thought patterns ,challenge difficult emotions and find a happier you.
If you were feeling stuck and demotivated thinking "I can't " rather than "I can " I offer solution focused techniques and motivational interviewing which focus on the future rather than the past and help you recognise the strengths and abilities you have to move forwards with a greater self belief and confidence.
Introductory session
I understand that coming to counselling and finding a counsellor that fits with you can feel like a right challenge. I offer an initial free 20 min on line session or phone call where we can talk about what you need from counselling this can help you decide if the right person to work with you is me! .
The first session
The first session would be for an hour .We would spend more time exploring what you would like to talk about in counselling . I would also explain about confidentiality and safeguarding within sessions and we would complete a counselling contract

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
