About me
My name is Elizabeth Sumner and I am a fully qualified and BACP Accredited Integrative therapist, trainer, senior lecturer and qualified Supervisor. I have run a successful private practice for 18 years, and currently practice from my room in Holmebridge, West Yorkshire. I have also worked in a clinical setting within the NHS for over 5 years.
My room is an ideal location to offer a private and confidential service, whilst offering comfort and a high quality of counselling support.
When I work, I am real and spontaneous, with a sense of warmth and humour. I allow clients to work at their own pace, whilst encouraging positive change and giving the client the tools to see things in a different way.
There is a fee for the initial consultation session, but there is no obligation to continue as we need to decide mutually if we can work together. It is a good opportunity to think about what you want from therapy and to raise any questions or concerns you have about the process. I am available for sessions on a Tuesday 9.15am to 5.00pm. Please note, I work with clients aged 21 years+ on a one-to-one basis. I am also BUPA approved. I have a rate for a 1 hour session (£60) and also 1.5 hours (£80)
I am a supervisor with 15 years experience of supervising one to one and in a group setting, and am available to trainees and qualified counsellors, plus to those in any allied profession.
I am BUPA approved so if you have private healthcare cover through BUPA it is likely your insurance will cover this work.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
