About me
My aim as a therapist is to enable people to find greater freedom, and peace within themselves. I believe a trusting, non judgement relationship is key to the deeper work of finding this deep acceptance. To experience this freedom we need to learn to trust and ourselves. We all understand the importance of self love, but to actually embody it seems to be harder, however, when we find someone walk alongside us in this process, someone who can see our potential without the filters of judgment makes it possible. When we can be kind to ourselves, then life with all its myriad qualities becomes easier.
Training, qualifications & experience
My background and training embrace counselling, body-mind psychotherapy (Hakomi) and mindfulness meditation.
I am an accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners) which is accredited by the PSA (Professional Standards Association). I have diplomas in Humanistic Psychology Group Facilitation, Professional Studies (Counselling), and Supervision. I have a Certificate in CBT and have recently completed the Foundation Certificate as an End of life Doula from the Living well, Dying well Organisation.
I have a diverse background, including ten years as a Therapist, Clinical Manager and Group Facilitator and in a specialist NHS mental health unit, and 10 years as a Psychotherapist in a specialist unit for people with severe Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME.
I have also served as a group facilitator and personal development tutor in University settings. Alongside this I have a private practice which also includes my role as a clinical supervisor for individuals and groups.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKAHPP is a national accrediting organisation for all those who apply the theories of Humanistic Psychology in their work. The UKAHPP is an independent member organisation of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the UK Register of Counsellors.
The Association is made up of a number of different membership classes e.g. Associate Members, Affiliate Members, Full Members, each with different requirements for entry. Full Members may use the initials 'MAHPP' after their names, and have undergone a rigorous accreditation procedure relevant to their discipline.
All members of the Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners must commit to acceptance of the UKAHPP Code of Ethical Principles, the UKAHPP Code of Practice, the UKAHPP Ethical Review Procedure and the UKAHPP Complaints Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I am a Hakomi trained psychotherapist. Hakomi is a gentle form of therapy that uses present moment experiences of mind, emotions and body to more deeply understanding some of our habitual ways of reacting. The ways that we react are often out of our consciousness (and therefore choice) and are created as a way to survive. By exploring this we can gently release the unhelpful ways of being.
