MBACP Dip. in Therapeutic Counselling

About me

Hi, and thank you for visiting my profile. I am a fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, offering a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for you to pause and explore your thoughts, feelings and issues.

I am passionate about mental health and believe we should all have the opportunity to express our emotions with another human being, with unconditional positive regard.  I work from my therapy room in the centre of Glossop in the High Peak (5 mins from the train station, there is also parking nearby). I offer face to face, telephone or online sessions.

I offer a free, half an hour, informal session so we can meet and see if we could work together. This can be face to face or online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Psychodynamic Counselling. The Psychodynamic approach helps you understand how your current feelings and behaviour are shaped by your past experiences, your unconscious mind and impulses. The relationship with the therapist is key to this approach, having an accepting and trustful relationship will encourage you to talk openly and freely about topics like your childhood and relationships with parents and early caregivers. This can help you understand what you're feeling now, why you behave in a certain way and how this affects your relationships. I also integrate CBT, Mindfulness and breathwork skills into my work if appropirate.

I am DBS checked, fully insured and registered with the ICO.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow their ethical framework, which ensures that I work ethically and professionally. I attend Supervision and take regular CPD to ensure I provide a high standard of counselling and support.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
