Elizabeth Courtney MBACP [RM., RGN]

My specialist area of interest is with those who remain troubled or traumatised following childbirth - whatever those experiences may have been. Having been a Midwife for many years, I feel I possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding for pregnancy related issues, especially when things sadly don't turn out as originally hoped for.
I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor with training in Somatic Trauma Therapy and bring a wealth of my own life experiences. I offer complete confidentiality and work in a safe and non-judgmental way dealing with personal issues of any kind.
I have been employed as a Midwifery Counsellor for a large NHS Trust where I helped women [and sometimes their partners] come to terms with their experiences. These included miscarriage, prematurity, medical termination, stillbirth as well as anxiety, postnatal depression and antenatal depression. Recently I helped set up a Birth Reflections [debriefing] service in a local Maternity Unit, for women who wish to discuss their pregnancy and childbirth experiences.
For a number of years I worked as a Bereavement Counsellor for an NHS Community PCT, have counselled in a variety of settings and take referrals from various health/social work professionals. I have also been a counsellor with a large charitable organisation in Norwich for seven years, and now have a small private practice.
Why not give me a call and we can discuss a possible way forward.
