About me

I’ve worked as a psychotherapist in mental health for 27 years both in the NHS and more recently in private practice. I’m qualified in Systemic Psychotherapy and registered with the UKCP both as a psychotherapist and a supervisor. I have also worked as a clinical supervisor & theory tutor on the Masters training at the Tavistock Centre in Belsize Park.

Are you feeling stressed, sad, worried, anxious or finding it hard to cope or feeling you’re not getting the most out of life? Perhaps something very difficult has happened to you or you fear something may happen. I offer therapy to individuals, couples, families or young people to address these and other problems using a relational approach. I am warm, gentle and non judgemental in my approach providing a confidential and safe space to explore difficulties.

I offer help with:

  • low mood
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • low self esteem
  • lack of confidence
  • relationship difficulties
  • conflict issues
  • loss
  • abuse or neglect issues
  • feeling you’re not reaching your potential.

I listen and explore feelings, thoughts and ideas you bring to therapy. I think with you about your relationships and how they are affecting your life - look at where you may want to bring changes. I work with the patterns of meaning and behaviour you adopt in life which sometimes aren’t helpful to achieve a happy and fulfilling one. Traumatic events can sometimes influence our capacity to cope or get the most out of life. I work with the effects of these experiences and the beliefs we develop in our families and relationships which are problematic. You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to talk about in therapy - you decide what makes sense to bring.

If you want to speak to me on the phone, I’m happy to do this or try an introductory therapy session to see whether you would like to take it further. I can be contacted by email or phone.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • BSc (hons) degree in Psychology
  • Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)
  • Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy
  • Systemic Supervisor

I have worked in an inpatient Therapeutic Community as Nurse in charge of the adolescent unit.

After training as a Social Worker I worked in a local authority generic social work team addressing many different types of problems and later in a specialist Fostering and Adoption Team.

I then trained in Systemic Psychotherapy (a training which examines context and relational meaning) in the nineties and worked in the NHS with children, adolescents and families.

I was a clinical supervisor and a theory tutor on the Masters course in Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock alongside my NHS work over a ten year period. After a few years gap I resumed my work as a clinical supervisor there. I have delivered a number of trainings for professionals including on attachment, children’s mental health in schools, sexual abuse, self harm and signs of mental health difficulties.

I have also been running a private practice seeing adults, adolescents, couples and families for a number of years.

I have considerable experience as a supervisor and manager in an NHS mental health service. More recently I have worked as a senior manager in the NHS.

I have published in my field.
