About me

I am a registered Counselling and Clinical Psychologist (HCPC), Psychotherapist (MBACP) and EMDR Practitioner (EMDR UK and Ireland).

I have nearly 20 years of clinical experience working with clients from over 50 different countries and presenting wide range of difficulties. In addition, I have extensive experience working with high-profile clients and their specific needs.

Over the years I specialised in assessing and treating Trauma, Complex PTSD, Dissociation, Attachment and Personality Disorders and their symptoms that include: anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, addictions, relational difficulties.

I have worked in London in prestigious organisations, in the private and public sector, including the Anna Freud Centre, South London and Maudsley Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital. I also have a solid background in scientific clinical research, having worked at King’s College, UCL and Imperial College of London publishing papers in international medical journals.

At present, I work in my private practice in Central London (Sloane Square area) and online, providing therapy in English and Italian.

Also, I am very passionate about my job and believe it is vital in my profession to continue our own therapeutic work, as well as clinical supervision and continued professional development.

My approach

In my work clients are central and respecting the individuality of each person is essential.

I use the different therapy approaches I am specialised in (CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Therapy etc.) and my professional expertise in order to tailor my sessions to the specific needs and objectives of each client.

I will offer you a safe, confidential, empathic and non-judgemental place to talk about your life and anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. Therapy allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you improve your situation, by reducing psychological distress, enhancing and promoting emotional wellbeing.

In this therapeutic journey, I will help you understand better the difficulty you are currently experiencing, what generated the present problem and what are the maintaining factors that prevent you from changing. Once we identify the objectives you would like to achieve, we will start working towards those with the evidence-based techniques that are most appropriate to your specific situation.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.
