About me

I am a BACP accredited psychodynamic counsellor working with both children and adults.

Counselling provides an opportunity to reflect on early experiences and significant events in your life, enabling you to explore how these shape your current thinking, feelings and behaviour.

In a safe, contained and confidential space, we can work together to gain insight into your thoughts and feelings and what might lie behind them. Counselling aims to help you find your own inner strength to live a happier and more fulfilled life.

I have worked with clients managing a range of difficult issues including bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, health concerns, stress, trauma, birth loss, family breakdown, depression and unemployment. I have also worked with children experiencing attachment issues, bullying, exam stress and behavioural problems. Play and art therapy form an important part of the therapeutic process when working with children.

If you feel you would like to get in touch, please email or phone me on 07951 249542. More details can be found on my website at www.bluewoodcounselling.co.uk.

We can then arrange a first appointment to talk on the phone. There is no fee for this and there is no obligation to carry on if you do not feel comfortable.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP – Registration No. 277978) and I abide by their ethical framework.

In addition to my psychodynamic counselling qualification, supplemented by professional development, I also have a CPCAB qualification in counselling children.

I am a fully-qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Cambridge and I have a postgraduate diploma in psychology.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
