About me

"Effective, nurturing, authentic therapy."

Hello, my name is Elaine and I am a qualified, experienced Counsellor and member of the BACP. I have practices both in The City (Lombard Court and Finsbury Circus) and also in Oxford Street and I offer a flexible Counselling Service between Monday and Friday. As I'm based in the city, I welcome clients from the Corporate sector as I understand how work stress, anxiety, depression and burnout can largely impact clients lives within these busy environments. As a Counsellor, I am extremely passionate about providing effective therapy which can lead to relieving the distress which we all experience at some point in our lives - be it panic, family issues, low self esteem, relationship issues, generalised anxiety disorder, work stress or any other means of distress clients experience. Outside my formal training, I also have a keen interest in the body and mind connection and am aware how yoga, mindfulness and meditation can strengthen this connection.

My Approach

The foundation of our work together is the relationship between us and how this relationship can lead to personnel growth and relief of symptoms for you. The values I hope to convey are that of warmth, empathy and understanding towards you and its important to me that you feel safe, heard and seen by me. I will work with you using an Integrative approach, which means I combine a range of therapies (incl. Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness, Brief Therapy, Humanistic and Person-centred). I believe each of these approaches can help us in understanding your subjective experience and will allow us to understand more deeply your relational patterns, anxieties, defences, needs and both internal and external conflicts. By beginning to become more aware of these patterns, we can begin to think of alternative ways you could choose to respond, which in turn will allow you to feel more in control of your feelings, emotions and relationships.

Further information

Aside from my formal training, I also have a keen interest in working with the body. Yoga, mindfulness and meditation are all powerful ways to encompass a more bodily approach when experiencing emotions. It has been proven on a scientific level that the body is a powerful tool in helping us to understand our emotional selves on a deeper level. In my work with clients, I try to encourage some body / mind interaction to optimise the therapy and help clients gain a greater understanding of their experiences.
