Elaine Conway. MBACP Reg. Counsellor
"Effective, nurturing, authentic therapy."
Hello, my name is Elaine and I offer effective and nurturing therapy to clients remotely (via on line and telephone). I'm a qualified and experienced Counsellor who works a lot with clients who present with anxiety, addictions, trauma and relationship issues. As a Counsellor, I am extremely passionate about relieving the distress which we all experience at some point in our lives. I meet you where you are, and together, we will look for other perspectives, we will create space together around your difficultly and think about how we can work to improve your current situation. Because I believe in using a holistic approach, I try to incorporate body and mind connection in our sessions. Being present through body and mind awareness helps to make space for emotions to arise and will allow you to decide how to respond rather than being on autopilot.
The Journey of true discovery lies not in finding new lands, but in looking through new eyes - Marcel Proust
The foundation of our work together is the relationship between us and how this relationship can lead to personnel growth and relief of symptoms for you. The values I hope to convey to you are that of warmth, empathy and understanding and its important to me that you feel safe, heard and seen by me. I will work with you using an Integrative approach, which means I combine a range of therapies (incl. Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness, Brief Therapy, Humanistic and Person-centred). I believe each of these approaches can help us in understanding your subjective experience and will allow us to understand more deeply your relational patterns, anxieties, defences, needs and both internal and external conflicts. By beginning to become more aware of these patterns, we can begin to think of alternative ways you could choose to respond, which in turn will allow you to feel more in control of your feelings, emotions and relationships.

As I have a keen interest in present moment awareness, I also trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Further skills training:

- MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy)
In addition to my core training, I am currently training with The Grove Practice in Trauma focused therapy (qualifying in July 2020) and also Couples & Relationship therapy (qualifying in June 2020).
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
