About me

Have you survived sexual abuse or rape, either at childhood or at later life? Do you feel shame, guilt, anger, fear or experience flashbacks? Are you experiencing physical and emotional reactions?

Deciding to attend counselling can feel daunting. The thought of opening up to a stranger about your experiences can feel scary and overwhelming.

I am a Trauma Informed therapist with a Humanistic approach combining the principles of understanding and addressing the impact of trauma with a focus on individuals worth, dignity and capacity for self-healing. I will offer a safe space where you can feel empowered to make choices and share your expeirences openly. Together we can explore how you are affected by your experiences, what has happened to you, we will lok at triggers and emotions you are going through, the symptoms and behaviours as a result from trauma. Working together I will help you to rebuild a sense of control, healing, resilience and empowerement.

You can choose to have a short or longer period of therapy, I will work and adapt to your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy-BACP. I am a trauma informed therapist working in a Person-centred way, and might incoorporate other therapeutic methods to suit your individual needs.

I have undertaken specialised training in trauma therapy to enable me to work with  adults who have survived sexual abuse. As a strong believer in the Humanistic aproach, and using that as a base in my client work, I also incorporate other therapeutic theories and methodes to suit your individual needs and challenges that you may be facing.

I have volounteered for a national mental health organisation, where I have worked with trauma, depression, anxiety, bereavement, ASD, ADHD and other issues.  I also volounteered and currently I am working for a charity organisation who supports survivors of sexual abuse and rape.

I continue to better myself as a counsellor and strenghten my skills and knowledge through regular ongoing training as part of my Continued Professional Development (CPD).

I am fully insured and DBS checked.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
