Dunton Centre For Counselling And Psychotherapy
The Dunton Centre was established in 1996 by a group of counsellors and psychotherapists who came together to create an independent therapeutic practice. The centre is dedicated solely to the purpose of counselling and psychotherapy.
We are located in a terraced cottage in a peaceful, rural environment. The centre is easily accessible by road (5 minutes from the A1). Biggleswade is 4 miles from Dunton and there is a regular bus service.
Since it's inception The Dunton Centre has developed a widely respected service which offers a diversity and richness in the different therapeutic approaches available. The centre is run by a Core Group of therapists who meet regularly for management, team building, supervision and professional development. This group is responsible for the administration and development of the centre, the allocation of referrals and the maintenance of ethical practice.
The Dunton Centre is used by local GPs, Private Health Insurance Companies, Employee Assistance Programmes and other statutory agencies. Many of our clients self-refer by contacting the centre directly.
Some of our therapists offer therapy or supervision to trainee counsellors but please note that we are not able to offer reduced fees to counsellors in training, or placements.
CQSW BACP accredited counsellor: Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Application of the Arts: Cert Supervision Skills: Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Supervision
I am an experienced counsellor, who co-founded the Dunton Centre 22 years ago. I have a background in social work with children and families, have worked as a secondary school counsellor and have delivered counselling training at post-graduate level.
I have a particular interest in using expressive arts as a therapeutic medium in my work.
I offer individual and group supervision.
Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
I am an experienced UKCP Registered Psychotherapist. My approach is psychodynamic and involves exploring how our current difficulties are influenced by past experience. This enables us to discover new ways of relating to others and living our lives.
Ann Edwards. PG Dip Couns (Univ of Herts); BACP Senior Accred counsellor; Dip Supervision
I work with children, adolescents and adults, often integrating creative arts into the therapy. My training was in Psychodynamic and Person Centred counselling but I have come to believe that the most significant factor in the counselling I offer is to do with the therapeutic relationship I form with my clients. Along with my private practice here at the Dunton Centre, I have had many years experience of managing and working as a school counsellor in a service that I set up for the school in 2001. I also offer supervision to counsellors working with children and young people, and those working with adults.
I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Accredited Supervisor, working therapeutically with adult individuals and couples, short and long-term, since 1993. My approach is humanistic and integrative; with a theoretical underpinning embracing both psychodynamic and primal models (my basic training), I incorporate understandings from other models in which I have received shorter training and/or supervision.
My aim is to offer a safe space where you can explore difficulties you are having in your life; whether this is to unlock and work through deep-seated, long-standing issues which may have been hidden for years, or to look at a current personal problem and to understand and define the options that are necessary for you to get on with your life. With supportive and non-judgemental support the therapeutic process can help you to develop your own coping skills and draw on your own resources; at best, to come into relationship with yourself, the essence of who you really are.
I also offer individual and group supervision.
Rosemary Rush. Arts Psychotherapist and Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. (HPC reg)
I work with people of all ages and will see children as young as 4 years old. I have been employed within the NHS and Social care sector for over 20 years, offering therapy to those who are experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties.
My original training as an Arts Psychotherapist (drama therapy)was based on a psychodynamic approach. I now combine this with cognitive behaviour techniques and strategies.
I have just completed a Diploma in Child Counselling, so am able to offer specialist support for children and their families.
Karen Carter Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (MBACP Accred)
Post Graduate Diploma in Working with Adolescents (WPF 2013)
I am an experienced counsellor working with adults and adolescents presenting with a variety of issues. My approach is contemporary psychodynamic which means that I aim to help people become more aware of 'why' they act as they do so that difficulties may be understood and resolved.
For a number of years, I have worked as a secondary school counsellor and also have a private practice seeing young people. I have also worked for a counselling agency assessing new referrals and seeing weekly clients.
Molly Ayre (MBACP Accred) PG Dip Couns. PG Cert Supervision. PG Cert Ed.
I am an experienced Counsellor working with adults and young people
individually and in groups. My approach is Humanistic and person-centred which means that I believe that you have the resources to discover what you need to manage and cope with the difficulties you face in life. I work in private practice and have recently worked in a Hospice with patients and people who have been bereaved. I have worked extensively with students and trainee counsellors, as well as people struggling with a range of personal difficulties.
