I understand how challenging life can be. I had a difficult childhood. As an adult, I struggled with work and family life balance and have also suffered loss and a trauma. As a result I too sought help and support. I decided to re-train and change direction in order to be there for others who need someone to listen and be there for them. I feel my life experiences have given me a deeper level of understanding when working with my client’s through their own issues.
My passion is mental wellbeing. I have studied to gain an understanding not only of psychotherapy but also the neuroscience involved in emotional disturbance. I believe together they provide me with a greater insight and ability to help my clients. In order, to break down barriers and nurture change, I will work closely with you to build an equal therapeutic relationship. I will encourage, support and guide you to reflect and process your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I understanding that every client is unique, thus I adopt an integrative approach to meet client's individual needs. This means I have studied in a number of counselling techniques including:- Person Centred (talking therapy), Cognitive Behaviour (CBT), Psychosensory Therapy, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic Therapy. In addition, I offer Coaching and Mentoring which can be incorporated into counselling sessions, if requested, or are available as a separate service.
I have over 20 years experience, working in a corporate environment, for a large Public Limited Company, providing both professional and personal development to staff and management. Including; coaching, mentoring, goal setting, training, skills development and professional one to one counselling.
Currently, as well as running my own practice I am a Partner in an organisation that provides Health and Wellbeing Services to the motor industry and I work with an organisation that offers counselling for adults in South East Essex.

Help to control anxiety
I contacted Dot when my anxiety was getting out of control and starting to affect my life. I immediately felt at ease with Dot. She helped me to work through my anxiety and taught me techniques such as mindfulness to control it. She used havening and CBT and always ensured I was happy with the techniques used. Dot is very easy to talk to and I found it very easy to book with her. She has created a lovely room which is quiet and calm so you immediately feel comfortable. Dot has really helped me to manage my anxiety and I now feel so much more in control. I would highly recommend her, she is professional at all times and is a fantastic counsellor.
Excellent and rewarding experience.
Dot was very warm and welcoming I felt at ease and safe sharing my feelings and thoughts. Working with Dot has given me the skills and tools I need to manage my stress and anxiety and has given me a better quality of life at home and at work. I would not hesitate to recommend Dot to anyone who needs support and help
Life changing experience, definitely recommend.
Dot was warm and welcoming, i immediately felt at ease and safe in the comfortable space provided.
As a qualified counsellor I approached Dot as the only local counsellor offering the Havening technique, wanting to work on past, deep embedded trauma which to date I had been unable to fully release. Results were both emotional and empowering, I discovered deep, buried connections to past trauma that previous counselling had not achieved. Dot's support enabled me to make sense of the impact the trauma had on my thoughts, feelings and behaviours over many years. I initially felt dazed by the revelations but left feeling emotionally stronger, more positive, content and with a true sense of self.
Dot has a great depth of knowledge not only of the Havening technique and integrative counselling but as a coach and mentor too. I would have no doubt in recommending Dot based on my own unique enlightening experience and her passion, knowledge and professionalism.
