About me
Hi there I’m Dot and thank you for taking the time to look at my page. Just to tell you a bit about myself and how I may support you. I remain providing face face with all government guidelines/measurements in place
The clinic I work from is in Heswell in private practice as part of a team Workingtogether121 and I am a qualified, registered integrative Counsellor specialising in Cognitive Behaviour (CBT). As well as counselling, I am also a qualified Reiki Practitioner/Master Trainer. Counselling can be provided through services such as skype, what's App and telephone counselling and I have worked with clients who have been referred for counselling through the Employer Assisted Programmes (EAP) service.
I have lots of experience in helping people to move towards a better place of wellbeing and these include supporting clients with anxiety (generalised anxiety disorder), depression, relationships, divorce, self-esteem, bereavement, substance misuse including drug and alcohol, loss and grief including loss of a pet, self-harm, phobias, fertility, school related difficulties, anger management, eating disorders, OCD, addictions, PTSD, work related issues, redundancy, trauma, unemployment, retirement, health anxiety, suicide ideation, bullying, and autism spectrum conditions. I work with all age groups including children and young people and I also offer mediation/couple counselling. In the past, I have also supported and worked with University students helping them to reach their full potential and toward their goals.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 7 years’ experience working in a counselling setting, privately and within the voluntary sector. I have worked closely with young people, students, adults, and outside agencies, offering support and guidance. I am totally committed to my counselling role and consider this as my vocation and one that I am passionate about. I will work with you collaboratively to help you achieve your goals. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a client grow and move towards a better emotional state. My aim through the CBT approach is to help you become your own therapist so you may use the many techniques learnt, empowering you to be and do better thus taking responsibility for your emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Aside from my private work within the clinic, I work with adults and young people to move them closer towards the labour market by providing support with employability i.e writing CV’s, applications and supporting with interview skills. I also coordinate and deliver many training workshops to young people for example Princes' Trust programmes. My experience also consists of working with staff in an education setting offering them support too when needed.
I hold an AQA Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (which includes working with Trauma, and Children and Young People), and I am a qualified Reiki Practitioner (The Usui System of Natural Healing). In the past, I have used Reiki to treat staff of The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospital Trust in Liverpool as part of a wellbeing at work initiative.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
