Dorothee Besland MSc, Bsc (Psych.), MBACP, Accredited
I am a qualified and accredited psychotherapist with experience working with adults and late adolescents (from 18 years old), on an individual basis.
My perception is that people seek therapy for various reasons like feeling of emptiness, relationships issues, lack of self confidence, break up, experiencing a bereavement, anxiety, sadness or low mood among others. You might be as well looking for more clarity into your life because you have arrived at a crossroad and don't know which path to take.
If you contact me, we will meet up for an initial consultation where you can ask all the questions you might have. It will also give you a sense of my way of working in a collaborative but not directive manner. If we pursue, my aim will be to provide you a space where you will feel secure enough to open up, explore and identify your fears, worries and whatever is troubling you.
Based on dialogue but also on your dreams and feelings, we will identify some connections between your curent relationships and past experiences and how they might be influenced by unconscious processes. Gaining a better understanding of yourself wll enable you to reduce anxiety and might help you to modify the way you relate to others in a more health way.
Depending on what you would like to achieve from the sessions, we could work short-term (more focus oriented) or more in depth.
I am aware that coming on a weekly basis is not always easy so I offer telephone counselling if necessary.
