Donna Savery existential psychotherapist and daseinsanalyst. MBACP IGA SEA
I am a psychotherapist, daseinsanalyst and IGA trained analytic group therapist offering individual therapy in Bucks. As a therapist I combine both psychoanalytic and existential approaches in my work.
I have worked for MIND as an individual therapist for patients with acute mental health diagnoses, where I was also employed as a Group Therapist. I am a writer and researcher and my book Echoism: The silenced response to narcissism, is published by Routledge books (2018). My work on echoism has enabled individuals who fear taking agency and speaking aloud, or who suffer from social anxiety or from being controlled by narcissists, to understand their own roles and to think about what they want from future relationships and to find ways to bring this about. Echoists often feel they have no control in their own lives or influence on others, and I work with whatever the patient is able to bring to communicate (this sometimes includes artwork, dreams and writing) - for those who cannot easily put their thoughts into words. I trained initially as an existential therapist and then with the IGA as a group work practitioner and I have recently qualified as a daseinsanalyst - providing an integrated form of psychoanalysis and existential therapy, involving intensive analytic work.
I offer a space for you to be heard and where you can share your fears, express your feelings and begin to address issues that may have been present for some time in your life. If you have been traumatised or have been through a life crisis I aim to provide a safe enough space to open up painful wounds. My approach involves staying open to, and trying to help understand, all aspects of your being, your conscious and unconscious motivations, the influences of others upon you throughout your life and in the present. If you have been in relationships where you find yourself repeatedly in similar roles, I will work with you to understand developmental and unconscious motivations, which affect how you are in the world and to take responsibility for a voice that you can identify as your own. If you suffer from mental health conditions I am experienced in helping to understand their impact upon you and others and to contain anxiety by being with you. I have worked with all aspects of narcissism and echoism and am experienced in working with patients to change highly sedimented and unhealthy patterns of relating. As a daseinsanalyst I work intensively with both conscious and unconscious communications, including dreams, that enable further analysis, to provide more understanding of you in relationship with others and to your whole existence and actions in the world.
I suggest an initial consultation to meet, and to see if we can work together, before agreeing to a contracted period of work. The cost is £65 and as well as providing a space to see whether I am the right person to help you, and for you to ask any questions you may have, it is an opportunity to discuss ongoing commitments, fees and frequency of sessions. I also see students who are training in counselling and psychotherapy and can offer a discounted rate where necessary, to those who need to see a BACP or UKCP equivalent therapist as part of their training.
I see patients either face to face or on the couch for weekly or multiple sessions.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
