Donna Forshaw MBACP(Reg.) Dip. Couns. Supporting Young people & Adults
Hello, I'm a fully qualified Counsellor, a registered BACP member and a passionate advocate of talking therapies. I provide a safe, private and non judgemental space where you can explore your emotions. My aim is to help you to gain insight into your thoughts and feelings enabling you to be able to enjoy life more.
You may be feeling like you aren't coping well, overwhelmed, stressed and anxious or generally out of sorts and would like some support in finding solid ground. These challenging emotions are perhaps impacting your relationships and mood, possibly leading you to feel depressed or feeling low self-esteem.
Counselling provides you with the opportunity to explore and make sense of your individual situation. It can be a positive step in the right direction to help you explore any issues troubling you or help you to make sense of life choices that could lead you to a happier more fulfilled life.
I will be here to listen and to hear you, to try to understand your experiences and provide you with a calm, confidential environment, free of judgement that sometimes friends and family are unable to offer. I understand how daunting the prospect of counselling can be, but you have already taken the first step by searching for a counsellor.
Training, qualifications & experience
Through my private practice I work with and support individuals experiencing anxiety and generalised anxiety disorders, stress and depression alongside many other issues.
I have gained experience through the Marie Curie Hospice in Liverpool, working with clients who have experienced bereavement, supporting them in adjusting to their loss.
I have also worked with Southport Formby Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre providing counselling services to anyone affected by cancer, including their family, friends and carers or anyone supporting someone through cancer.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
