About me

Welcome to my page!

I am a UKCP registered humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist and also a BACP registered counsellor. I am a member of Hampshire Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis and International Association of Transactional Analysis.

Do you find yourself on crossroads -feeling anxious, stressed or depressed? Or maybe questioning your existence, meaning or purpose in life?

Despite all efforts sometimes we can all find ourselves feeling stuck, alone, vulnerable and despairing at times. Counselling and Psychotherapy are clinically proven to help us understand our processes and offer us help to support our mental and emotional well -being.

All it takes is a small step, to reach out and that's where it all starts. Once you decide, I will offer you a safe place for you to explore your world and support you in this therapeutic journey. I believe every person is unique and I will work at your pace. I customise therapy to tailor to your individual specific needs.

It's your life and it's important. I am here to partner you and be with you as you find the answers that best fits your unique situation to bring the desired change and growth.

I draw upon a wide range of therapies including Humanistic, Transactional Analysis, CBT and mindfulness to help you make meaning and come to terms to your issues. I now offer outdoor therapy to get added benefit of physical -well being when I can. I work with individuals, couples, groups, for either short term or long term work.

I offer a safe and non-judgemental space to help you explore the issues and make a positive change. I am a warm and an empathic person and believe that solutions come from people once they take the first initiative. This might seem daunting at first but once people decide to take therapy positive change can happen.

My clinical experience includes one to one work in a doctor's surgery, the University of Southampton and have the specialist training in abuse (Southampton Rape Crisis, now the Yellow Door) and addictions( Gam Care) respectively.

I am a British Asian and grew up in India. My first career was in academics. After my move to U.K, I embarked on my psychotherapeutic  journey and am a work in progress. Therapy for me is a process of healing and acceptance.  Following from that it helps me find  new meaning and enrichment every day. Nature and outdoors play a big part in my life. I come with a wealth of life experiences and understand the emotions of sadness, anger, scare and joy. I embrace multiculturalism and I enjoy working with  people with varying ethnicities and diverse backgrounds. I understand the impact of moving cultures and the challenges and joys it encompasses. I believe every individual without any labels of gender, religion, nationality or sexuality is a human being first and for me in the therapy room that is very important.

Unconditional Positive Respect and being non-judgemental is one of the key values of ethics and I do my utmost to follow these principles. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction being a part of people's life to make a difference.

I am privileged to work with people ,joining them in their life journey and helping them to manage change effectively.

My private practice is in a quiet close on the ground floor with easy parking.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
