Divya Jogai Reg. MBACP
I am a BACP registered counsellor. If you are going through a difficult time, I can offer a safe and non- judgemental space to help you explore the issues and make a positive change. Sometimes this process is easier and more effective with a trained counsellor who is not a close relative or friend.
I was awarded the Foundation Degree in Arts with merit in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis in 2014. My clinical experience includes one to one work in a busy doctor's surgery, the University of Southampton and my own private practice. I completed the training at Yellow Door( Southampton Rape Crisis) and Gam - Care as a volunteer counsellor to have the specialist training in abuse and addictions respectively. For the past two years I have worked with couples to offer them support in relationship issues.
The various healthcare, social setting and client groups from a variety of cultural backgrounds and diversity have provided me a wide range of experience ranging from an age of 18 upwards.
Although I trained as a Humanistic counsellor I have a good understanding of other modalities like CBT, Psychodynamic , solution focussed and integrative.
I am a warm and empathic person and believe that solutions come from people once they take the first step. This might seem daunting at first but once people decide to take therapy positive change can happen.
I have a special interest in cultural issues, due to my own personal background and life experience. I am an Asian by background and prior to my move to U.K in 2005, I was in academics and worked as a Lecturer in a Government College in Rajasthan having completed my Post-graduation and Doctorate from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. I also lived for a few years in the middle- east. In the process of settling, adapting and looking after young family I decided on a career break and to pursue my passion in human behaviour and mental health. It gives me a real sense of satisfaction being a part of people's life and to make a difference.
I am privileged to work with people, joining them in their life journey and helping them to manage change effectively.
It’s your life and it’s important. I can offer support and help you to find your own answers to be able to cope life better. I am here to partner you and guide you to find the solution that best fits your unique situation.
My private practice is in a quiet close on the ground floor with easy parking.
I work with individuals on a weekly basis for either short term or long term work.
