We all experience times in our lives where we need support and guidance; to be reminded that just beyond despair lies hope. Have you experienced a challenging or traumatic element of your life and find daily functioning more difficult than before? Do you find simple daily tasks a struggle? Find yourself wondering what your life means, what its really about? Want to understand yourself better, be able to cope with lifes challenges as they present themselves?
Following a personal trauma which left me feeling vulnerable and lost, I have spent the last 20 years training and working to learn how to help people adjust and make the appropriate change in their lives. I passionately believe that everyone has the capacity to change, to learn about themselves, to find their own unique, innate self-healing tool kit to repair patterns of behavior and mental conditioning.
I specialise in tackling Life Limiting Illness, Bereavement, Anxiety, Fear, Low Self-Esteem, Loss, Trauma, Sexual Abuse, Existential Crisis, Panic Attacks, Family Issues, Feeling Sad, Stress and Personal Development in a safe, non-judgmental, empathic environment. I seek to nurture resilience and build a state of empowerment which provides us with the strength to cope with the sometimes overwhelming, challenging and exhausting experience that is life.
Using a holistic approach I strive to establish a connection with my clients before we even begin the sessions, as I believe having the right person to support you is as vital as the support itself. As we progress through our work together will determine what is the right style of therapy or coaching for you.
"When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves" Viktor E. Frankl
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified person centred, integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP.
I believe the expert on you is YOU and therefore firstly I listen, it is important I understand how life feels for you, what you are experiencing and how that impacts you. And to provide you with a safe space to talk. I will work with you to understand your psychological patterns of thinking, ways of behaving, unique conditioning and life experiences.
Having trained in person centred counselling, online and telephone counseling, physis, intuition & autonomy, EFT, anxiety, suicide awareness, menopause and bereavement and loss; I have vast experience in using talking therapy, creative therapy, metaphor, symbolism, behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and spiritual awareness. I continue training in my field on a regular basis; in line with the BACP requirements.
I also have over 6 years of experience working as a volunteer counsellor for Macmillan; supporting Cancer patients and loved ones. I feel grateful to be able to work with people during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
In addition to the above, I am a qualified recovery coach; this element of my training can be useful for some clients.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
