I am a qualified counsellor and a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My training has been centred on the person centred approach. My experience and professional development has led me to adopt a pluralistic take on my practice and introduces elements from therapeutic theories such as Existential Psychotherapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy.
In my practice I work with people that experience emotional distress, low mood and anxiety in a structured, time limited or open ended time frame. My aim is to always take into account my client's needs, wishes, pace and desired focus in order to maintain a meaningful and trusting relationship. In our work my clients will have the opportunity to be in a non-judgemental space with me where they will be able to explore their feelings, situations and experiences in confidence in order to reach a positive resolution.
I have delivered counselling to clients in the NHS and in the community sector and hence I have worked with people from a vast range of cultural and life backgrounds bringing a variety of issues. I have specific experience of working with adults (16+) of any age who have experienced both loss and bereavement through death, relationship breakdown, loss of employment or other; men and women that have suffered historic abuse, loss of family unit, life crises, workplace difficulties and people experiencing passive suicidal thoughts. I welcome working with clients from any background including migrants settling into the UK from Europe or overseas.
What to expect in your first session
If you contact me I will get back to you in the same mode of communication you used to offer you a free consultation over the phone. This will give you the opportunity to ask me questions and we can briefly touch on what brings you to seek counselling at that time. This way we will be able to decide together before you commit to any sessions if counselling with myself is the suitable option for you.
