About me

I have been practicing as a Psychotherapist for 25 years. My training at Regent's University was Integrative, covering Existential theory; the psychodynamic model and humanism. I went on to complete the Integrative Advanced Diploma which was the professional arm of the training which followed on from the academic M.A.

Following my qualification and registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy I worked for 15 years as Head of Staff and Student Counselling at Regent's University, London. I also work from my private rooms at the Angel, Islington, London.

I work individually and with couples and I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and also am a member of the British Counsel for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP) and work to their code of ethics and practice.

My experience lies in working with issues which include relationship/marital difficulties, couples counselling, low self esteem, bereavement, loneliness, depression, stress, abuse, repressed feelings and emotions and eating disorders. I also work with generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorders.

I have experience of clients with gender identity problems and working through the transitional stages of gender change.

I have experience in working with both long term and short term therapy. I also offer clinical supervision to other psychotherapists and counsellors in training

I have worked in the NHS (Kings College, the Homerton and St Barts) and have undertaken specialist training in the field of eating disorders, including cognitive analytical therapy and family and couple work.

My model of working is humanistic - following the Rogerian theory that if a plant is given the right conditions - warmth, sunshine, water and nourishment, it will grow, flourish and ultimately blossom.  I try to create a safe caring space for my clients and I pay great attention to fostering a strong and caring therapeutic relationship.  I use guided imagery to help my clients understand situations that they find confusing and encourage them to bring their thoughts, feelings and emotions whether negative or positive.  They are received caringly and non judgementally. My area is safe and accessible with parking available.
