Counselling is a type of talking therapy which involves exploring, in a private and confidential setting, personal difficulties you may be experiencing. Talking to friends and family can sometimes be uncomfortable and so meeting with someone who is not part of your social circle can be an advantage as it enables you to say how you feel and think without worrying about the reaction. I like to compare the counselling environment to that of a Safe Harbour where you can receive shelter from the storms of life.
I am trained to listen empathically and, without giving advice, to help you use your own resources to find the solutions to your problems. Face to face Counselling may be beneficial if you are looking for support to get through a difficult transition in your life. I offer a caring and non-judgemental environment to explore a variety of issues.
Sessions last for up to 50 minutes and are usually taken weekly on a short term or long term basis.
I use counselling rooms in Central Gloucester and in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in Integrative counselling for adults, specialising in the use of Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This enables me to adapt my approach to meet the needs of each individual that comes for counselling.
I also have an advanced specialist qualification in counselling children and young people. I work creatively with children and teenagers to gain their confidence and to enable them to understand their emotions and their experiences. Working with different techniques allows them to cope better with the challenges they face.
I have worked for two different organisations within Gloucestershire offering counselling: counselling adult carers at Carer's Gloucestershire and counselling children, teenagers and young adults at Teens in Crisis Plus.
Other roles and experience that I have includes teaching in secondary schools and working for Home-Start, which is a charity that supports parents with young children.
I am a fully qualified, insured and registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I abide by their ethical guidelines. I have regular professional and strictly confidential supervision. I have an enhanced DBS certificate. I am committed to my own personal development and attend regular training courses.

I charge £20 for a 50 minute initial meeting. This will give you the opportunity to see what counselling is like and to decide if I am the right person for you to talk to and to help you work through your challenges.
Commitment to regular therapy can be very beneficial. Further sessions are charged at £40 for 50 minutes and are best taken on a weekly basis. In return, I can offer the same commitment and reliability to you so that we can work together to help you make sense of and work through whatever you are facing.
Sessions can be booked for short-term or long-term periods.
