About me

I am a licensed therapist in the UK with 3 years of professional experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, depression, relationship and family issues and coping with grief and loss. I am a person-centred trained therapist but, work in an integrative way, which means I use whatever skills are available from different therapeutic approaches. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and fears can be shared without judgement. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling way of living, because it requires personal honesty and patience, I am here to support you in that journey. The therapeutic relationship is uppermost I believe, therefore it is my job to promote a feeling of trust, so that, client and therapist can work together to tailor a precise way towards healing. In today's world, we have more neurobiological research informing therapists how a person's thinking and emotions are directly linked to brain/mind/ physiological functionality. I have found that a certain amount of psychoeducation can help to alleviate the blame/shame culture that is often seen in therapy. I strive to communicate to clients they are not alone in their struggles to achieve a welcoming, non-judgemental and empathic environment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained for 3 years to Foundation degree level. I waited along time to do this due to family commitments. This was the right path for me because it has also given me a plethora of experience in other industries such as health and lifestyle,  education and mental health support.

I have worked for a local cancer charity, FACT, for 1 year and in an education environment for 2 years. Currently, I work as an independent counsellor for a company online whilst working in my private practice.

Predominantly though, I have experienced the pros and cons of navigating a mental health system on behalf of a family member so have a full understanding of the intricacies around support and medications
