I offer individual counselling through Talk Therapy, CBT, Creative Therapies and Personal Consultancy sessions. I use Integrative approaches to therapy, depending on what each person that I meet with may need. This changes as we progress through the stages of therapeutic journey together so being able to call upon varied theoretical domains when needed is something I feel very strongly about, keeping the person going through this journey at the centre of my approach.
I am a Trauma Informed therapist, offering Rewind Trauma Therapy as well as looking at the traumatic experiences and their inevitable consequences on the person experiencing them through the prism of Poly-Vagal Theory, seeking to familiarise the client with the workings of their own nervous system and eventually countering some of the long term effects that trauma can have on the body and the mind. I aim to give real, practical skills to the client so they can build their own tool box for the future in order to maintain their wellbeing as they eventually exit the therapy.
To that purpose I use Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), which utilises our knowledge of Poly-Vagal Theory to date. It is a research-based intervention that has given significant results in reducing stress and anxiety, improving the well-being of people of all ages. SSP uses filtered music to encourage the nervous system that connects the brain and body to reset. This calms the nervous system out of its "fight, flight or freeze" response.
The brain and body can then work in a more balanced way which makes coping with the stresses and strains of everyday life and making social engagement easier.
The clients report the easing of general anxiety symptoms, better ability to engage socially, making it easier to live with ADHD, ADD and Autism as well as reducing the symptoms of Anxiety and Stress.
I am a qualified therapist/counsellor with a BSc in Psychology and a BACP Registered practitioner. I am currently undertaking further training in form of MSc in CBT in order to offer my clients an even wider scope of potential treatment options.
I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling professions.
I work in private practice as well as volunteer by co-running a social group locally that offers a space where people across different ages can meet and spend time together, get to know each other and as a result combat some of the effects of loneliness and disconnection that is reported today as a major influence to health and happiness. I believe this also has a huge positive effect on people's mental health; being seen and heard by another is life changing and enhancing.
Call or email for an initial chat about what you may want and need. This may lead to a first, informal 'get-to-know-you' session which may indeed be your first step into truly getting to know how to approach and deal with life issues that may be hindering your wellbeing.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
