Dr Diana Caine
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis for individuals experiencing low mood, anxiety, loss or conflict whatever the cause.
In a safe, non-judgemental environment you can talk about what has happened to you, discover the meaning for you of a traumatic or distressing event – whether illness, the end of a relationship, a work conflict – a meaning that is often linked to significant people and events in the past. The work aims to enable you to find new ways of thinking about your past experience, and so to contemplate a different future.
If you would like to find out more, please feel free to contact me via email or telephone. I will offer a time to meet for an initial consultation. This meeting is an opportunity for us to see if we can work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a chartered psychologist and associate fellow with the BPS, an HCPC registered clinical psychologist and I am on the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. In addition to my formal training in clinical psychology, I have trained in psychoanalysis with CFAR and the Guild of Psychotherapists.
Having worked for 25 years in the NHS in Australia and in the UK, I have had extensive experience in clinical practice. I lead a programme of group and individual psychotherapy for patients with a range of neurological conditions, such as stroke or MS, that challenge their sense of identity, their thoughts about their future life and their relations with others. I have also worked in private practice for more than 10 years.
I have taught at the Universities of Sydney and Manchester, and on the public seminar programme for CFAR. I have written and published numerous articles, in English and French, on topics ranging from disorders of memory and language to working with psychosis, most recently the book 'Perversion Now!' published by Palgrave Macmillan.
