Deniz Baloglu, MPhil (Cantab), Registered Member MBACP
I am a Cambridge based counsellor working with individuals and couples.
My main area of interest is relationships. I can help you with unhelpful patterns in your life that stop you from establishing and maintaining satisfactory relationships with your family, friends and romantic partners. I have also successfully worked with clients who suffer from low self-worth, perfectionism, self-sabotaging behaviour, procrastination, depression, anxiety and a general feeling of being stuck. My goal is to help you transform your life in a positive and meaningful way and if I am not the right counsellor for you, I will refer you on to someone who is a better fit.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an MPhil in Psychology and Education from University of Cambridge. I also have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Diploma in Relationship Counselling from Relate. My counselling training included Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT and Systemic approaches. In my practice, I work eclectically, borrowing 'tools' from different approaches. This means, I base my intervention on the particular issue brought to therapy by the client as well as what approach I think the client would best respond to. I am however grounded on the Psychodynamic model and I rely heavily on the Person-Centred approach when establishing and maintaining a relationship with my clients, putting a lot of emphasis on being warm, caring, accepting and non-judgemental.
I believe the most healing aspect of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and the client and I am always informed by the relational aspect of therapy.
