Denise Hall (MBACP)
My name is Denise and I am a professionally qualified and BACP registered Counsellor. I understand that it is not always easy to talk to family and friends about things that are bothering you and quite often, they may offer you advice, when all you really want is to feel heard and respected for who you are.
I am a person-centred counsellor and it is my strong belief that individuals are the best authority on what is right for them. Only you know how it feels to live in your world and to have experienced what you have.
I have a genuine desire to work with you and gain an understanding of your world through your eyes. As your counsellor, I will offer you a safe, supportive and confidential space, where you can explore your thought processes, reflect on your life experiences and begin to make some important connections. By gaining clarity on what has caused you to feel unsettled and anxious, may help you to make positive changes in your life. Together we will explore your strengths, weaknesses and tap into inner resources and coping mechanisms to help you in the future.
I am happy to have a telephone conversation with you to answer any queries you may have and to help you decide on whether to work with me. After that, if you feel happy to continue, we can arrange a time and date for our first session together.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
I charge £40 per 50 minute/hour session. But if you are struggling financially, or are on benefits I can offer a reduced fee. We can discuss this when you contact me.
I am based at ‘Cumbria Therapies at Bourne House’. This is located on Milbourne Street, Carlisle CA2 5XF. There is some parking space on site, but it is also possible to park on the road adjacent to the building. There are transport links conveniently located nearby, including Carlisle train station. The building is discreet with toilets and refreshments on site and lifts on each floor.
I am also available to work in the Workington area if this is more convenient for you.
