About me
WHO I AM
My name is Demi and I am a highly experienced Accredited Counsellor and Trauma Therapist. I currently work for Inspire (Dover Counselling Service) and have many years experience of working within the NHS Talking Therapies.
I have spent years studying and many hours listening; this has equipped me to address a wide range of mental health issues, including Trauma presentations. My priority is to create a safe and non-judgemental space, where you will feel empowered to explore your goals and gain insights for change and personal wellbeing.
I have weathered some of life’s storms, and my personal journey to healing means I ‘get it’, I can help. We all struggle with life, and you are not alone. My philosophy is that the Past need not repeat; we can ‘Change our story’ and learn to engage from a place of worthiness and wellbeing.
WHY YOU ARE HERE ?
Are you struggling at the moment, feeling overwhelmed or have too much going on and don't know where to start? Perhaps you don't know if you need help... or that only people with serious mental health problems can see a Therapist ?
Perhaps there's guilt, because you cannot control your anger, or mood ? Or you feel that your problem is something no one can help with. On bad days, you doubt whether it's all worth the effort, you have tried everything.
Imagine what it would be like to let go, find resolution and get on with your life; focus on being you; Does this sound like something you need? If you are seeking a compassionate and experienced Professional to guide you on your path towards greater self awareness and fullfilment ;
I am here to support you every step of the way.
THE EXPERIENCE
In Practice I am an Integrative Therapist and use techniques from different approaches. Integrative counseling offers several benefits including a holistic approach with flexibility and a tailored approach to therapy. For example;
Interpersonal Therapy can help you navigate and improve your relation- ships with others. Cognitive Behaviour (CBT) techniques can help you identify and challenge negative thought patterns. Psychodynamic techniques to explore underlying issues and child- hood experiences. Humanistic techniques to foster self compassion, acceptance and personal growth.
EMDR (Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to help process Traumatic events or distressing life and childhood experiences. Mindfullness and relaxation techniques for managing stress, and promoting overall mental and physical health.
I can help you explore your concerns and focus our efforts in the right areas. I can help you identify the beliefs that are holding you back, build your confidence and ways to move forward.
As a client you will be placed uniquely at the heart of change within a relationship of mutual participation and equality. We will work collaboratively together to address your concerns and tailor the work to your individual needs and goals.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
