Twenty one years experience as a therapist working with couples and individuals has reinforced my philosophy of empowering people to find their inner strength and confidence enables them to address their problems and move forward with life.
My experience has reinforced my beliefs that it is the safety and support of a therapeutic relationship that is the most potent ingredient in clients ability to make change.
Finding the right therapist for your counselling journey is important for you to face your fears and worries, you may then choose to make changes to your life.
I offer a free 30 minute consultation for you to get a taste of a therapeutic session and meet me, whilst I assess the issues that you bring. If we are in agreement that we feel we can work together then we move into an assessment session and then a counselling agreement.
I provide short term therapy 6-8 sessions for adults with personal worries such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, low confidence, work problems such as stress, redundancy and bullying, relationship or family worries.
Couple therapy for issues such as rows, infidelity, separation, divorce, sexual worries. This is generally for 6-8 sessions also.
Longer term therapy may be needed for deeper issues such as abuse, alcoholism or addiction, low self esteem, eating disorders or trauma.
I will negotiate concessional rates for trainee counsellors.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
United Kingdom Register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists (UKRCP) (UKRCP)
The UKRCP is a voluntary register of Counsellors / Psychotherapists held by BACP. A condition of registration is accreditation with either BACP, COSCA, UKAHPP or FDAP.
Registered practitioners are entitled to be known as a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor / Psychotherapist.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
