About me

As a person centred counsellor I offer confidentiality and ethically based talking therapy. I believe that each person has a unique world which they inhabit and experience: I offer to enter that world so that I can work alongside a client to make sense of their world, creating a safe place to explore and find pathways to make beneficial changes. I use a range of theories because I am concerned to find methods which work for an individual client, without pre-conceptions about what 'should' work.

I can use Gestalt, Emotion- focused Therapy and use Attachment Theory, amongst others to enable the counselling process to work in the best way for you.

What happens in a counselling session?

I will listen to you as you talk and describe what you would like to bring to share with me. I will make every effort to understand how you see and feel in your world. I may ask questions which could help you to see things in a different perspective. I hope to help you to find ways which will enable you to understand yourself and your situation and to give hope for the future. I will not ask you to do anything, or talk about anything, which you are not comfortable with. I offer long and short term counselling for children, young people, adults and couples.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked within organisations offering counselling for a decade; I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am committed to continuing training, supervision and personal development. I worked in education for 25 years and have used skills gained to train others in counselling support. Currently I work for a local charity as a counsellor addressing a range of issues. I also volunteer with other charities as a counsellor working with all areas of pregnancy- miscarriage, infertility, still birth and abortion- and with bereavement, including sudden and traumatic loss, especially in road traffic collisions. I have worked with older people and had training in understanding issues for those over 70. I have my own counselling practice in central Bedford.
