About me

I am a BACP Accredited & Registered Counsellor, a qualified Supervisor and qualified Couples/Relationship Counsellor. I have 10 years' experience and am based near the centre of Rawtenstall, Rossendale, BB4. I provide a welcoming confidential counselling service in my Private Practice for individuals and couples.

I also provide counselling as an Associate or Approved Counsellor for organisations including several EAP, Occupational Health Providers and Insurers including BUPA, AXA PPP, VITALITY HEALTH and AVIVA, the Police Firearms Officers Association and Lancashire Police. I invoice these organisations directly. I am also qualified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).

INDIVIDUAL ISSUES: If you are having difficulties, you deserve help to feel better. Whether you are experiencing generalised anxiety disorder, feeling sad, depression, relationship difficulties, work difficulties, unemployment, family problems, OCD, panic, bereavement, divorce, separation, low self esteem or confidence, I will work with you to help you gain clarity and understanding. We will explore ways for you to cope, gain confidence, consider any changes you would like to make and generally improve the way that you feel.  This may include helping you to increase self compassion and self care.

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES: If your relationship or marriage has hit difficulties, then you can both work together with me to improve communication, find ways to safely explore issues, understand, accept and make any changes that you agree together. Whether you have experienced a loss of direction, arguments, change of feelings, betrayals, bereavement, redundancy, affairs or even separation, we can explore together in a calm, non-confrontational way that helps you both to understand each other's views and maybe experience a change of perspective. Moving forwards together with common goals is always possible, provided you both agree. I am a Person-Centred, Integrative Counsellor, which means I utilise a variety of counselling skills to specifically meet your individual needs.  I am warm, friendly, supportive and experienced and will offer you complete respect, without any judgement whatsoever.  You will be able to discuss whatever you choose in counselling, at your own pace, in a completely relaxed and respectful safe environment. Don't suffer in silence - make your appointment today.

INITIAL CONTACT: Please telephone, text, or contact me through my website (see all links at top of this page). We can then arrange your first appointment.

FIRST SESSION: At our first appointment, I will explain my Counselling Service, answer any of your questions and we will complete the paperwork together, which is very straightforward. You will be able to ask as many questions as you like in order to completely understand the process. We will then discuss what has brought you to counselling and identify together how you might prefer to explore your issues and what you would like to gain from the counselling sessions. These are your sessions and we will work together to find the best way forward for you.

I will aim to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your situation. I will encourage you to care for yourself and to use self compassion in order to move forwards and explore your difficulties, whilst empowering yourself and regaining control. You are free to talk about whatever you choose to at your own pace.  I will listen to you carefully and respectfully, never judging, whilst supporting you and encouraging you to identify what might possibly be helping or hindering your situation. This can help you to see things much more clearly, gain clarity, find a new perspective, gain control, understanding or acceptance and to identify possible answers to your difficulties.  We will work together to help you explore any changes you might wish to make, or simply to find ways of coping with your current situation. You may begin to see ways of improving your situation or just feeling differently about things. You may wish to implement significant changes. Counselling can help you feel better about yourself and about your situation. It can help you to feel empowered to make any decisions or changes you would wish to make.

You are your partner will be able to attend sessions together in a calm, friendly, neutral environment. You will be able to explore your relationship issues, in a non-confrontational way and discuss matters and feelings which have been affecting you both, without judgment. I will help you find ways to communicate respectfully, considerately and constructively about your issues during counselling, so that you can increase mutual understanding, tolerance and compassion towards each other and become more clear about what is going on for you both. You will both be able to explore your difficulties and agree ways towards improving communication and helping you move forward together more positively.
