About me

I am an experienced and professionally qualified psychotherapist registered with UKCP. My speciality is couples counselling and I run a business jointly with my partner, Simon Adamson, called 'Complete Couples'. We each offer an online service providing you and your partner with a safe and empathic space to assist you in exploring the difficult issues within your relationship, whatever your age, race, or sexual orientation.

We also offer online sessions to individuals covering a wide range of areas including: relationship issues; work difficulties; depression; bereavement, stress; anxiety; eating disorders; addictions; sexuality; domestic violence and low self esteem.

We can help you in a variety of ways:

Realise why you chose your particular partner;
See the problems in your relationship as an opportunity for greater understanding;
Learn how to communicate with your partner effectively to create curiosity and support rather than conflict;
Understand how the differences between you and your partner are showing you how to become a more whole person;
Identify the strengths in your relationship;
Improve your relationship by gaining insight and awareness into your problem areas.
Understand why an affair happened;
Help you to separate with grace and integrity if this is the most appropriate path for you.

Simon and I also run regular training for counsellors to help them to work more effectively with couples.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold five degrees including a Masters Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy (MSC) and a degree in psychology (BSc).
I am also registered as a member with UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
I am also a qualified Imago Relationship Therapist and have also completed training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Common issues:

Are you unhappy with your relationship?
Do you sometimes think that you've chosen the wrong partner?
Do you find the same old conflicts repeating themselves time after time?
Do you despair of the communication in your relationship?
Do you fear that you've fallen out of love with your partner?
Have you given up hope of finding the deep and meaningful connection with your partner that you want?
Are you holding resentments and anger against your partner?
Have you already read loads of relationship books and still not found a solution?
Has your sex life become boring or non-existent?
Are you fantasising about or having affairs with others?
Do you get confused about your role as a man or a woman in the modern age?

It's perfectly normal for such questions (and many more) to arise within any romantic relationship. It's also understandable why couples avoid discussing them; after all its not easy! As an individual in relationship, you might feel alone and distant from your partner if issues remain unresolved. Counselling can help you to work through issues together and re-connect.
