Hello,   I am a friendly, approachable counsellor and I understand that starting counselling can feel difficult.  It is not always easy to start to talk about things that may have been bothering you for a long time. I create a safe environment for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours, and to help you recognise familiar patterns of behaving and how these impact on your feelings.

I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship and family issues, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, emotional and physical abuse, gender violence, grief, loss, employment concerns, low self esteem and other mental health issues.  I have extensive experience working within the NHS for GP surgeries and been in private practice since 2012.

I offer confidential counselling in a non judgemental comfortable environment.  My room is in a peaceful location and overlooks adjoining fields. There is off road parking at the property as well as parking on the road outside. It is on the number 58 bus route.

I understand that there can be confusion about feelings and thoughts and counselling offers you the opportunity to explore these to help you gain greater understanding of yourself.

I work integratively encompassing psychodynamic, person centred and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis and I am an accredited BACP counsellor.

I also have a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and this approach can be very useful for helping you become more confident and successful in all areas of your life

I have qualifed as a sexual violence worker, working with those who feel they have lost their power and my goal is to help them empower themselves.

I have worked in schools, a counselling agency offering long term therapy, a hospice and over 8 years experince working within GP surgeries.  I  also work with clients who have been referred for counselling via their Employee Assistance Programme, and other insurance providers such as Bupa, Vita, Aviva and Axa

I can work creatively if we feel this would be helpful and use stones, mindmaps, and other forms of creative expression. 

I can work short term or long term and we can discuss this between us.   You are free to choose how many sessions you want and I am very flexible as to whether you would like weekly or fortnightly appointments.  During our sessions, we will, between us, discuss how you are getting on and to check that you are still getting what you want from counselling.

I offer some concessionary rates for the unwaged and students, but only have a limited amount of these available at any one time.
