Deborah Hare BSC Hons UKCP Registered and Acc Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
01603 633152 / 07902 962919
I am an experienced UKCP Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am also on the PSA Accredited Register.
I work in an empathetic way, I'm non-judgemental and believe in confidentiality. I work spontaneously, helping to make my clients more aware of their own thoughts, feelings and behaviour which then enables them to grow an inner strength and move forward in their lives.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I use many different types of therapy. My main core is person-centred and gestalt, with a partial bit of CBT. Another type of therapy I work with is mindfulness, which is you training your anxieties naturally through meditation.
My speciality is working with sexual abuse and other forms of abuse.
I work with people who are suffering from:
- Low self-esteem
- Eating disorders
- Sexual abuse
- Couple counselling
- Family counselling and many more issues.
My belief is life can be like the sea, it can be choppy, stormy, rough and calm. My motto is:
"Breaking through the waves of life together."
Together we can ride the storms and find calm again.
I specialise in sexual abuse, rape and other domestic abuse issues and have worked for several years with an agency specialising in this field as a counsellor. I'm experienced in supporting both men and women who have experienced trauma as a result of sexual abuse and continue to work for a sexual abuse agency who refer rape/sexual abuse victims to me.
How to get started
I offer short term or long term counselling to anyone over the age of 12.
I have an understanding of being the client; it can feel very daunting to suddenly open up to a stranger, however it was the best move I made seeking counselling!
Please contact me via phone or email me and I shall respond promptly to arrange an initial telephone chat where we can discuss your needs and find out more information on what has brought you to counselling.

I also work with dreams. I believe that people can suppress emotions in the unconscious which may be revealed in symbols and dreams. I, therefore, work with dreams and listen to the images within them. I aim for the client to interpret their own images and what is ‘figure’ in their dream. This work, I believe, can help the client bring the unconscious to the conscious mind. I may also work with the client to ‘walk the dream’.
I also use art therapy skills as part of my integrative therapy.
Some of my clients quotes on leaving therapy.
"Thank you so much I now feel like I can face the world again."
"I cannot believe the change in me, everyone has noticed."
"I never thought I would feel this good again, thank you from the bottom of my heart."
"Fantastic counsellor highly recommended, thanks Deb."
"I feel like a new person."
