About me
Hi, my name is Debbie and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults, couples and families offering a confidential, non-judgemental and supportive approach to focus on your concerns.
I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, guilt, grief and relationship difficulties. I have a particular interest in anxiety and how to understand, manage and accept your anxieties.
I use Transactional Analysis (TA) as my main theoretical framework. TA provides a very accessible theory of human development, personality and human development. It can assist us in understanding how our life experiences have resulted in us forming fixed and sometime unhelpful views of ourselves, which then impacts on how we relate to others. In therapy we can explore the views that you hold about yourself and how they may be creating barriers to you living the life you would like to live. We can explore and challenge those beliefs with the aim of creating new ways of thinking, feeling and relating to others.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling and an Msc in Psychotherapy with distinction from Metanoia and Middlesex University. I am also qualified as a relational Certified Transactional Analyst - CTA (P)
I have experience providing both short term and long term therapy within private practice, the NHS and in low cost counselling services.
Prior to training and working as a therapist I spent 30 years working in business and finance
Professional Bodies
I am bound by the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices of the following bodies
- UKCP - United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists
- EATA - European Association of Transactional Analysts
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
