About me

Hi my name is Debbie and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.  My practice is located on the borders of Biggin Hill, Tatsfield and Westerham. Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to talk through whatever concerns or difficulties you may be dealing with.

Life can be challenging at times and present varying degrees of problems and emotional distress.  Coping at these times may feel difficult and lead to experiences of depression, anxiety, stress and tensions affecting your well-being, relationships and quality of life.

Difficulties may relate within present life experiences or arise from the past. These may impact on how you behave and identify with yourself and others.  You may feel unable to talk to those closest to you.  As your counsellor, I will provide an empathic approach in supporting you to explore areas of concern, gain insight and deepen self-awareness, without judgement.  My focus is on you and your needs in aiming to help you gain a better understanding of how you think, feel and behave.  The focus of our work and the outcomes we set to work on will be decided by you, with my support.  I will work alongside you in offering guidance and encouragement in working through challenging feelings, and in building confidence and resilience in making changes that feel right for you moving forwards in life.

The quality of the therapeutic relationship is a key factor in promoting trust and change for individuals.  It is important that you feel comfortable in talking openly about your concerns with me.  Whilst I do not offer my opinion or give advice,  I will offer support and relational depth from which I hope you will experience being heard, understood and accepted.

Please feel free to contact me for an initial discussion which will be confidential and free of obligation and charge to consider how I may support you and whether I may be the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
